Key properties

Key properties
Excellent UV resistance (does not yellow like ABS)
Notched Izod impact ~400-500 J/m
Heat deflection temperature ~95-100°C
Good chemical resistance
Tensile strength ~40-45 MPa
ABS-like stiffness and printability

Common applications

  • Outdoor enclosures and housings
  • Automotive exterior trims and mirrors
  • Electrical and telecom cabinets
  • Garden and agricultural equipment
  • Signage and displays
  • Rooftop and solar components

Processes available

  • FDM 3D printing (ASA filament)
  • Injection molding
  • Extrusion

Surface finishes

  • As printed / as molded
  • Sanded
  • Painted (UV paints)
  • Textured

Cost & pricing

Only slightly more than ABS — a small premium for weather resistance that is worth it outdoors.

Tolerance: FDM ±0.3mm; injection molding ±0.1-0.15mm.

Frequently asked questions

ASA or ABS for an outdoor part?
ASA — it is the weather- and UV-stable version of ABS; use ABS only for indoor parts where cost is the priority.
Does ASA need painting?
No — it has inherent UV stability, but painting with a UV-stable paint is fine for color matching.

Frequently asked questions

How long does production take?

Lead time depends on the process and quantity — 3D printing typically ships in 2–3 business days, CNC machining in 3–5, and injection molding in 10–15 after tooling. You'll see the exact lead time on every quote.

What is the standard tolerance?

CNC-machined parts are held to ±0.1 mm as standard, with ±0.05 mm achievable on critical features. 3D-printed parts are typically ±0.2–0.3 mm. Add your critical dimensions in the notes field.

What is the minimum order quantity?

There is no minimum order — we produce single prototype parts as easily as large production runs. Quantity discounts start from around 10–25 pieces.

What surface finishes are available?

A wide range of finishes is available locally, including as-machined/printed, bead blasting, anodizing (clear, black, gold), powder coating, painting and polishing.
