Key properties

Key properties
Light transmission up to ~90% after polishing
Tensile strength ~50-60 MPa (post-cured)
Heat deflection temperature ~55-65°C (standard clear resins)
High detail resolution down to ~0.05mm features
Watertight when sealed and coated
Brittle under impact vs. molded acrylic

Common applications

  • Optical prototypes and lenses
  • Liquid-flow visualization parts
  • Display and lighting covers
  • Watertight housings and test parts
  • Jewelry and art models
  • Master patterns for casting

Processes available

  • SLA / DLP 3D printing
  • Follow-up CNC for critical bores (optional)

Surface finishes

  • As printed (slightly matte)
  • Sanded + polished (water clear)
  • Clear UV coating
  • Dyed tinted

Cost & pricing

Low-cost per part for transparent prototypes — far cheaper than machined acrylic or glass for one-off pieces.

Tolerance: ±0.1-0.2mm typical; clean, drainable features print best.

Frequently asked questions

Does clear resin stay clear outdoors?
Standard clear resins yellow in sunlight — use an outdoor or ceramic-grade resin, or a UV-blocking clear coat, for exterior parts.
Is clear resin watertight?
Printed parts can hold liquids once cleaned, post-cured and coated with a clear sealant; untreated thin walls may wick moisture.

Frequently asked questions

How long does production take?

Lead time depends on the process and quantity — 3D printing typically ships in 2–3 business days, CNC machining in 3–5, and injection molding in 10–15 after tooling. You'll see the exact lead time on every quote.

What is the standard tolerance?

CNC-machined parts are held to ±0.1 mm as standard, with ±0.05 mm achievable on critical features. 3D-printed parts are typically ±0.2–0.3 mm. Add your critical dimensions in the notes field.

What is the minimum order quantity?

There is no minimum order — we produce single prototype parts as easily as large production runs. Quantity discounts start from around 10–25 pieces.

What surface finishes are available?

A wide range of finishes is available locally, including as-machined/printed, bead blasting, anodizing (clear, black, gold), powder coating, painting and polishing.
