Key properties

Key properties
Shore D 80-85 hardness (ABS-like)
High impact resistance
Good abrasion and scratch resistance
Density ~1.1-1.2 g/cm³
Paints and bonds like ABS

Common applications

  • Prototype and low-volume plastic parts
  • Display and sales models
  • Brackets and housings for pre-production testing
  • Casting of parts that will later be molded
  • Short-run functional components

Processes available

  • Vacuum casting (silicone molding)
  • CNC machining of cast blocks

Surface finishes

  • As cast (minor mold seams)
  • Sanded and painted
  • Textured
  • Matte or glossy clear coat

Cost & pricing

Economical for 1-50 pieces with no hard tooling — a fraction of injection molding setup cost.

Tolerance: ±0.2mm typical; silicone mold shrinkage must be accounted for.

Frequently asked questions

Vacuum casting or injection molding?
Vacuum casting for up to ~50 parts or when a fast sample is needed; injection molding once volume justifies the tooling.
Is cast rigid PU as strong as molded ABS?
Close in most properties for prototyping, but molded ABS wins for volume, consistency and thin-wall capability.

Frequently asked questions

How long does production take?

Lead time depends on the process and quantity — 3D printing typically ships in 2–3 business days, CNC machining in 3–5, and injection molding in 10–15 after tooling. You'll see the exact lead time on every quote.

What is the standard tolerance?

CNC-machined parts are held to ±0.1 mm as standard, with ±0.05 mm achievable on critical features. 3D-printed parts are typically ±0.2–0.3 mm. Add your critical dimensions in the notes field.

What is the minimum order quantity?

There is no minimum order — we produce single prototype parts as easily as large production runs. Quantity discounts start from around 10–25 pieces.

What surface finishes are available?

A wide range of finishes is available locally, including as-machined/printed, bead blasting, anodizing (clear, black, gold), powder coating, painting and polishing.
